                                             FACES OF WOMEN

I have always been drawn to faces and did quite a few portraits when I was in school but thought that time was over. I was surprised to find out that in fact I am just getting started. Painting the faces of women, especially of those I have loved and known make the act of painting feel very intimate and in fact political. These pieces scream don't pin me down! I wont be easily branded for I love all manner of painting and this could be a phase or it could be a new beginning, One thing for sure, I need more paint!!!

1, self portrait on fire
2. My grandmother Peg [before she married my grandfather, in Appalachia]

Sculpture, the deconstructed painting

Sculpture and Painting
I like to deconstruct paintings only to put them back together again for me it is a joyful practice. Most of the wood that I use is recycled and found. These works take time often painted for years before finally finding their place in a so called "sculpture" I ruminate quite a bit on color and placement. I love to make them as I love to paint.

Sacred Forms
